September was not so much a bad month for the county’s “green credentials”, as you reported last month, so much as a good month for local democracy. Considering that the Secretary of State, Hazel Blears, only called in Glyndebourne’s controversial industrial-sized wind turbine application after finding that 97 per cent of her mailbag on the subject was from people and organisations opposed to the scheme – largely Sussex residents – you should be celebrating the resilience of Sussex people to such ill-informed and badly-presented schemes as Glyndebourne’s. “Wun’t be druv” and all that.
